We are seeking a dedicated and motivated team player with excellent client communication and medical skills who has a passion for the field of Equine Veterinarian Medicine.

This is a full-time position, working 4 1/2 days a week with every other weekend off to enjoy life in beautiful Southern California. On-call duty is shared and flexible by agreement among the two Associate Veterinarians so that each has ample time to enjoy a personal life and the beautiful weather.

About Equine Veterinary Associates

Equine Veterinary Associates is a secure and high volume 100 % equine ambulatory practice based in Anaheim, Orange County, California. The practice has been operating continuously for over 50 years and has a well-established and long-term client base to which we offer highly responsive and superior ambulatory services.

Our clients include a mixture of companion and show horses with a very light load of equine reproduction. Preventative care, dentistry, lameness evaluations, and routine illness and injuries compromise the bulk of the case load. Cases which require extensive surgery or intensive treatment are referred to one of several hospitals or referral centers in the area. Our field veterinarians must have the ability to provide quality front-line services.

Required Experience and Responsibilities

Candidate should have completed internship or have equivalent experience. EVA would consider an exceptional new graduate with truly outstanding references. California DVM License required.

Kirk E Pollard, DVM

Dr. Pollard grew up in southern California. His family owned and showed horses throughout his youth. He won the California State Horsemen Association's California State Horsemastership Award in 1967. Dr. Pollard attended Cal Poly, Pomona for his undergraduate education and graduated from the University of California at Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He was President of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association at Davis, and is currently an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the California Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Pollard joined Equine Veterinary Associates, Inc. upon graduation and became a partner in 1984.

David G Treser, DVM

Dr. Treser has been a horse owner since 1968, when his parents bought a quarter horse gelding. From 1969 to 1974 he competed extensively in Western horse shows on the Pacific Coast in the Pleasure, Equitation, Trail, and Stock horse categories.


His undergraduate degree was in zoology from Pomona College in Claremont, and he graduated with his degree as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of California, Davis, with an emphasis in Equine Medicine and Surgery.


Dr. Treser has been with EVA since graduating from veterinary school in 1982: first as an intern, then as an employed veterinarian, and now as an owner/partner. He has a special interest in the horses competing in the horse show industry, provides backup for EVA’s reproductive expert, and enjoys the special needs of the older horse population. He lives is Norco with his wife and kids (the proud father of two sets of twins) sharing his home with horses, dogs, and a large tortoise named Lloyd.

Valena Wasmund, DVM

Dr. Wasmund grew up in San Diego, California and rode horses competitively in Combined Training and Dressage. She did her undergraduate studies in pre-veterinary medicine at Cal Poly Pomona and graduated from Iowa State Veterinary School in 1993 and joined EVA. From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Wasmund completed a two year Equine Reproduction Residency at UC Davis and returned to EVA to offer top-quality reproductive services to our clients.   Her special interests are in Equine Reproduction and Emergency Medicine.

Two Full Time Associate Veterinarians
EVA employs two full time Associate Veterinarians who work 4 1/2 days per week with every other weekend off. On-call duty is shared and flexible by agreement among the two Associate Veterinarians.
Full Time General Practice Ambulatory Veterinarian
EVA also has a  General Practice Ambulatory Veterinarian who has worked with EVA full time as a general contractor for 15 years.
